The Magic of a Wall Art Series

The Magic of a Wall Art Series

When I take a photograph, it always stems from a spontaneous moment. I’m moved by a particular mood, or a subject catches my attention in a special way.

My first series of three came about because I wanted to decorate one of my rooms. The goal was to create an intriguing composition—not the typical beach and flower photos, which are undeniably beautiful and harmonious but can become mundane upon repeated viewing. Especially for someone who didn’t take the photos themselves and therefore cannot connect to the mood in which they were captured.

This is how the SoCal Series was born. I selected three images from the many photographs I had taken over the years and began editing them through photo retouching to create a cohesive overall look. This time, I avoided the expansive turquoise waves on golden-white sandy beaches or any tropical-looking, exotic flower species. Instead, I focused on urban scenes: a bus in DTLA, a gas station near the city center, and a pool table in one of the decreasingly popular bars. The color scheme was based on my favorite colors: green, red, and yellow.

Why three? Why not two or four? Or perhaps a few smaller ones—five or six? Well, I like a combination of five images as well but the number three made my choice since it's widely regarded as a powerful, harmonious, and symbolic number, often associated with completeness, stability, and spiritual depth. It carries a certain magic, imbued with religious and spiritual significance, as well as cultural resonance, as evidenced by the saying, “Good things come in threes.”

Thus, the first series of three became not only an aesthetic choice for me but also a symbolic one, bringing harmony, depth, and balance—not only into my home but potentially into yours as well.

Yours truly, Schnuckelbiene.
